Color Me Green: Popular Environmentally Friendly Sources of Power in the UK
The three main power sources in use in the UK are Npower, British gas and Scottish power. These companies provide UK’s power supplies to meet all of their resources. Since the advent of going “green” with environmentally friendly sources for their everyday activities, the power source is being looked into to provide the consumer’s with a more natural source of energy that still gives them the necessary power support they need.
Npower is an energy provider that’s trying to meet their consumer’s needs and work towards eliminating the harmful effects of nature, such as the green house gases. They have stepped up into a more rigorous role in bringing the natural sources into their energy systems. They’re looking into providing wind power, hydropower and biomass power.
They have already built a wind farm in Scotland and have had other wind farms approved to be built in the South Wales area. The wind farms provide the necessary energy resources by utilizing wind, which is a natural energy found free in nature.
They have also utilized some hydropower locations to provide energy sources with the use of water. Water is stored in designated areas and kept there by massive dams. The force of the water being released from the dams and forced through special channels powers the blades that run on the energy from the water. Water is another free resource of energy found in nature.
They are offering their customers “green” energy, which is a renewable energy that would cost less but have the same effect as the modern energy they have now. They’re offering their customers a way to transfer to this new energy without any additional costs or extra wires running to their house.
Another source provider in the UK is the Scottish power. They are right along in the fight saving our environment. They have developments of wind farms supported by hydro power. They’re also generating some developments for Pelamis Wave generators. These generators work by the force from natural waves in the ocean. The waves go up and down and force air into a tube with a turbine placed inside. The air from the waves runs the turbine which then runs the generator.
Again, the Pelamis wave energy system is another energy source found in nature itself. These renewable energy resources are expected to the wave of the future as the green energy develops to higher plains over the next several years.
British Gas is another resource provider for the UK. They are aware of the green energy and have many plans in discussion to promote researching possibilities for natural energy developments for the future. It’s unclear at this time what they have in the works for the present time.
In addition to the 3 main power companies for the UK, the consumers are doing their part to try and reverse the effects of global warming. Utilizing nature, which is a part of our earth’s resources, helps to eliminate the greenhouse gasses as much as possible and hopefully reduce the hole in the ozone layer. They are minimizing the resources they use that cause harm to the earth’s atmosphere. They’re pulling together to help each other out and bring the earth back to where it was and where it should be.
Consumers are spending billions of English money on environmentally safe goods and preparing their soil to grow more trees and plant life to help reduce carbon. Some are looking into solar energy, which is powered by the Sun.
Hopefully, the resources the energy companies are using now will develop even more in the future to become the main source of all our energy resources. Using nature’s own energy is better for the atmosphere than using modern technology.
